Committee Members needed

Recently a group of River Bend Trail board members, advisors and friends met with Art Lersch from the UW Extension for an annual planning session. We reviewed past accomplishments and set goals for the coming year. One goal for 2016 is to recruit more committee members.

Our committees and some of the action plans for the coming year are listed. Consider becoming involved in the River Bend Trail for the positive benefits to our community.

Real Estate – Continue to pursue trail expansion by acquiring land and easements. Work with land owners to resolve any issues regarding the trail. Meets the 3rd Wednesday of the month 5:30 pm at the new Pine Ridge Restaurant.

Capital Campaign – Pursue local fundraising and look for new grants and resources to help raise the $200,000 needed for the next section of the trail. Meets the 2nd Monday of the month 6:30 pm at the Merrill Chamber.

Construction – Actual work on completing the trail. Hire crews and landscapers. Develop, with the City of Merrill, safe biking trails. Meets the 2nd Wednesday of the month 4:00 pm at City Hall.

Marketing – Promote use of the trail by individuals, organizations and businesses. Schedule events on the trail. Market items and amenities such as benches and historical signs. Meets 2nd Tuesday of the month 6:00 pm at 1st St. Coffee Station.

Friends – Recruit and encourage more active roles for members in development of the trail. Establish benefits for Friends. Next meeting January 11th in the lower level of Johnson Gifts.

Our monthly board meetings are the 4th Wednesday of the month 6:00 pm at the Merrill Chamber, 705 N. Center Ave. Guests are always welcome. If you are interested in joining a committee contact Sarah Williams 715-600-3910 –sarahj724@gmail.com.
